Dean - Founder & Director
Dean is the founder and director of TUFFNTAILS, alongside his German Shepherd, Nala.
Dean picked up Nala as an 8-week-old working-line puppy, and from day one the two built an inseparable bond. As Nala grew, so did the challenges - particularly when it came to finding dog beds and accessories that could genuinely withstand a powerful, destructive dog.
Before founding TUFFNTAILS, Dean and Brad (Co-Founder) worked together as plumbers at the same company, where they regularly shared stories about their dogs destroying beds that were marketed as “chew-proof” but failed almost immediately.
That shared frustration ultimately became the foundation for TUFFNTAILS, which was launched in the early months of 2025. With a background in plumbing, Dean brings a practical, no-nonsense mindset to the business: build it properly, over-engineer where it matters, and stand by your work.
Brad - Co-Founder & Logistics Manager
Brad is the co-founder of TUFFNTAILS and brings firsthand experience living with high-energy, destructive dogs.
As the owner of two Huskies and a Labrador, Brad understands exactly how quickly standard pet products fail when put to the test. Like Dean, Brad is a plumber by trade, and the two worked together at the same company before deciding to build something of their own.
Countless conversations on the job site about destroyed dog beds and wasted money led them to the same conclusion: there had to be a better solution.
Today, Brad plays a critical role behind the scenes at TUFFNTAILS. He is responsible for logistics, warehousing, and packing every customer order, ensuring each product is carefully checked, securely packed, and dispatched to the same standard he’d expect for his own dogs.
That hands-on involvement means when you place an order with TUFFNTAILS, it’s handled by someone who genuinely understands the product - and the dogs it’s built for.
Nala - Founder (The Real Boss)
Nala is the real boss behind TUFFNTAILS, and she runs a tight operation.
As a working-line German Shepherd, Nala sets the standard for everything we create. She oversees quality control, ensures our products meet her expectations, and has zero tolerance for anything that can’t handle serious wear and tear.
If a product doesn’t pass Nala’s test, it doesn’t make it to market.
Simple as that.
